The Northwestern Ruritan Club met Dec. 9 for the annual Christmas dinner/meeting at Northwestern High School. The Christmas decorations at each table were furnished by the NWHS FFA.

President Jamie Bowman welcomed members and special guests including Rick Dilyard, Zone 9 governor. The group joined in singing “America,” and the invocation was given by Jim Johnson. Dilyard reinstalled the officers, who are the same as in 2024.

Chuck Beck’s treasurer’s report was approved subject to audit. Beck also reported the profits from the Pancake/Sausage Day in 2024 and from the Parade of Flags in 2024. Thank-you notes were received from the Mohican Church Ministry for the donation of coats and jackets last month and from Ella Saal for her scholarship.

It was reported members spent 14 hours attending The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle at Buehler’s Milltown Store on Nov. 21 and Dec. 3. Beck reported 19 boxes were sent to soldiers from the area for the Husky Brigade packing and mailing on Nov. 16, noting the Holmes/Wayne Electric Cooperative, which presented the October program to the club, made a nice donation for the boxes.

The club was treated to a Christmas concert by the NWHS choir, directed by Mrs. Leslie Andrews.

With no more business, the meeting was adjourned with the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance and wishes for a merry Christmas and happy New Year. Members were asked to invite a friend to become a club member. The next dinner/meeting will be Monday, Jan. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Northwestern High School. Club directors will meet at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria.
