The Northwestern Ruritan Club met Feb. 10 at Northwestern High School. President Jamie Bowman called the meeting to order, welcoming members and guests. The group joined in singing “America,” the invocation was given by Jim Johnson and the dinner was served by the school cooks.

The January meeting minutes were read with no corrections or additions, and Treasurer Chuck Beck’s report was approved subject to audit. A thank-you note was received from the West Salem Outreach & Food Pantry for the club's donation. A motion was passed that the 2025 budget as presented be approved, as was a motion that Ruritan aprons for members be purchased, especially for the upcoming Pancake/Sausage Day.

Randy Tegtmeier said plans are in progress for the club’s Pancake/Sausage Day on March 8. Many ads were turned in for place mats, and other plans are in place. The pigs he is raising for sausage are doing well. Posters were dispersed for members to post at different locations.

The club’s scholarship application forms will be available for NWHS seniors after March 1 and are due in the guidance office by March 15.

Beck said Husky Brigade packages will be sent out in May to soldiers from the school district. He would appreciate members bringing in goodies for the packages at the May meeting.

Bowman said flags for the first Parade of Flags for the year will be put out for Memorial Day weekend, and he has received many subscriptions already.

It was reported the Ohio District Ruritan Spring Banquet will be April 26 in East Canton. A motion was passed that the club purchase an advertisement for the program booklet. With no more business, the meeting was adjourned with the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

The next dinner/meeting will be March 3 at 6:30 p.m. at Northwestern High School, when final plans will be made for the Pancake/Sausage Day. The director’s meeting will be at 6 p.m. in the school library.
