On Feb. 19, TOPS OH1573 Nashville opened with pledges. Mabel Leid was best weekly loser. She said to eat a new vegetable this week and eat it two times and also to eat off a small plate. Lana Rush was best weekly KOPS. Each club member placed a heart on the club heart poster.

Leo Tope gave a program using March/June TOPS Magazine from an article called “Vegetables Matter.” Plant-based diets are beneficial for many body functions. It benefits obesity, lowering body weight and smaller waist circumference. For diabetes it improves insulin sensitivity and lower A1C levels. For cardiovascular health it can lower cholesterol, triglycerides and inflammation while an improved gut microbial composition provides better colon health.

TOPS OH1573 meets at the Nashville Global Methodist Church on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m., with weigh-in at 5 p.m. The first meeting is free.
