On Oct. 19, TOPS OH1573 met in Nashville and opened with pledges. Bonnie Pringle was best loser, with the advice to watch sodium intake, and Lana Rush was best TOPS.

For the program, Joni Schonaurer made various smoothie,s telling the benefits of each. Most had plenty of fiber, protein and other nutrients. Members were reminded to bring fruit and veggies next week.

On Oct. 26, the club met again. After pledges, Geneva Pringle was recognized as best weekly loser. She said to keep busy to help not to be tempted to eat. Bonnie Porter was best monthly loser, while Lana Rush was best weekly and monthly loser. A new contest, “There Are Many Ways to Start Moving,” was planned.

Rush gave a program entitled “Back to Basics with Real Food.” She read labels from four items with a long list of ingredients. Many added ingredients were preservatives. The simpler the ingredient list, the healthier the food (usually). A good thought is to avoid anything with more than 5 ingredients.

TOPS meets at the Nashville United Methodist Church on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. with weigh-in at 5. For more information, call 330-231-1382 or 330-600-2649.
